Dear St. Hyacinth Parishioners,
I pray you and your families are safe and well. St. Hyacinth personnel have been diligent in observing the Archdiocese protocols for keeping worshippers, school families and staff safe during this time.
Those protocols involve reporting when staff or parishioners test positive for COVID-19. I am therefore informing you that at least one parish employee has tested positive for the virus and several others have been exposed. Parishioners need not be concerned. Out of an abundance of caution and following with public health department, we are closing St. Hyacinth Basilica from Nov. 14 – 21 as we do a deep cleaning and disinfection of the building.
This case is being reported to the local public health department, and we will follow health department directives, including quarantining. Members of our staff who were in prolonged close contact with us are also being notified.
This is unfortunate news, but the best way to ensure the virus does not spread is to take the preventive measures outlined by the local departments of health. If you are concerned of a possible infection, it’s advised to avoid gatherings, wear face coverings in public, wash your hands frequently and monitor your family members for any signs of infection. For any additional COVID-19 questions or support, please visit your local department of health website for the most reliable information.
Please know that the health and safety of our parishioners and staff are our priority. If we receive more information that affects the operation of our parish or access to our buildings, we will communicate it promptly.
As a faith community, we are doing our best to respond with compassion and prayer to everyone affected by the COVID-19 around the world, particularly those who do not have access to health care and community support. Please keep our community in your prayers and know that we are praying for you.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Fr. Stanisław Jankowski, CR
