Our names are Janina Piwinski, Margaret Langer and Mariola Jackowski. We are volunteers working for the Mission for the Poor by Saint Hyacinth Basilica in Chicago. Each of us had a chance to visit missions in Uganda and Tanzania and to witness the amazing work of the missionaries in these countries.
Our current focus is on supporting construction of the boarding house for students and on installing water storage containers for Resurrection Elementary School in Buhemba Tanzania.
We would like to share with you some information regarding these two projects.
Your donations will have the power of changing lives of many children and give them the opportunity of education and access to basic nutrition.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
This year, the Resurrection Pre&Primary School, located in the small village of Buhemba, Tanzania, was ranked the best school in the region and fifth best school in the entire country. The Mission in Buhemba and the Resurrection School was founded by the Congregation of the Resurrectionists. From the first moments of its construction the Mission is run by a Polish missionary priest, Father Maciej Braun CR. With the support of people of goodwill from many different countries, Father Braun runs one of the best educational facilities in Tanzania, serving some of the poorest children in Buhemba and nearest villages.
Presently, a boarding house is being built so children can prepare for school and do their homework in better living conditions. Because of the great poverty in this region, parents are not able to provide food or a bed to sleep on to their children. Children usually sleep on the bare ground and are covered with tatters. The only meal they eat is given to them at school.
The Resurrection School is also struggling with the serious problem of a lack of water. During the rainy season, water is collected and stored in containers either underground or above ground. Water from these storage containers is then pumped to the school buildings in the dry season as needed. Because of growing student enrollment and the addition of school buildings, including the boarding house, the need for water has increased. The school needs funds to build more water storage containers. It has to ensure that students and workers have access to the gift of life-WATER.
We appeal to all people of goodwill for help in realizing these projects in the Resurrection School in Buhemba, Tanzania. The cost of completing the boarding school and constructing additional water storage containers is $50, 000.00 US dollars.
All donations towards this cause will be greatly appreciated.
May God bless you all!
